Every once in a while I come across some genuinely passionate projects that I fall in love with and like to follow:
Humanoid Atlas is a great technical compendium of the modern day supply chain for building humanoids.
Project Rho has been going on for more than 30 years now and is the home of some amazing hard sci-fi ideas turned to concepts.
ARocket is the OG amateur and model rocketry network and I have been lurking there for many years now. Talks about everything from the rocket equation to legal issues of making said model rockets at home.
Julia is a scientific programming language. As someone who is not a software developer and hates Matlab, it has been really amazing trying Julia out and I'm excited to see what they come up with in the future.
Startups I've invested in:
Here is a list of companies that I think are doing very cool things.
Speculative Technologies is a non-profit focused research organization (FRO) funding big-if-true ideas that have the potential to change the future of humanity. I am particularly fascinated by their ideas around macromolecular additive manufacturing and nanomodular electronics.
Terraform Industries is working on atmospheric hydrocarbon synthesis, as solar power becomes cheaper.
Boom Supersonic is making supersonic aircraft for commercial travel. I hate long flights, so I'm particularly excited about what they will do.
Hermeus is building the world's fastest aircraft. It has been more than half a century since the SR-71's first flight, so YES.
Helion is building the world's first fusion power plant. Could very likely be how we do things in the future on earth and in space.
Anduril needs no introduction. Hard defence-tech company building everything from lattice solutions to combat drones to under-water systems.
Kobold Metals is changing the way we discover and mine metals. Mining is not going to go away anytime soon, the least we can do is make it sustainable and ethical.
Cool companies/organizations that don't exist anymore or got acquired:
